CONTROL WATER RATES
I believe that Vallecitos Water District has excelled in maintaining low water rates, even as we face significant challenges ahead. Rising prices from water wholesalers, driven by inflation, energy costs, and increased operational expenses, threaten our ability to keep rates affordable.

URGENT DISCUSSION ON FLUORIDE IN OUR WATER SUPPLY
Urgent Discussion on Fluoride in Our Water Supply
Fluoride has been added to drinking water in many communities for decades, with the intention of preventing tooth decay. However, recent studies have brought to light concerns about the effects of fluoride exposure, particularly on children’s health. As a parent myself, I understand and very much share the community's concerns about what we are putting into our water.
That’s why I’ve called for an urgent discussion on this topic at our next Vallecitos Water District Board meeting. This meeting will be an opportunity for experts to share the latest research, and for residents to voice their thoughts directly. It’s critical that we evaluate whether adding fluoride remains the right choice for our community's water supply.
While Vallecitos is not the direct source of fluoridation —it comes from our suppliers— I believe it’s time to assess whether continuing with fluoride aligns with the latest scientific insights and community preferences. If the consensus from our community is clear, I am prepared to push for changes with the San Diego County Water Authority to ensure our water meets the needs and desires of those who rely on it. Let’s make an informed choice together, prioritizing the health and safety of our families.
